Junk King Jerry and the Downeast Museum Dream follows a professional junk collector in Washington County, Maine—Jerry Blackburn—and his curation of the Downeast Museum of Natural History in his hometown of Cherryfield. The museum serves to showcase the "regional artifacts" he has dedicated the last twenty years of his life to amassing, and he aspires to one day establish it an a more official venue. But for now, it takes over every room of his home, and his entire property. My work with Jerry was done in while completing a post-graduate certificate in documentary studies at the Salt Institute in Portland. Hear the accompanying radio piece by producer Joshua Gleason on NPR's Weekend America.
